Just like the weather each day, Trilogy’s first year at Whittier started off slowly with the fog of uncertainty and finished clear, crisp and perfectly. The players progressed each day and the final game of the week on Friday saw the Blue Team reclaim their crown with a 1-goal victory in the “Whittier World Championship”.
Skills like inside finishing, clearing through to create space for a dodger and 2-man games all were picked up throughout the week and applied to the scrimmages each night providing some better play as time went on. Fast breaks and slow breaks went from unknown entities to tic-tac-toe ball movement and proper spacing resulting in some very pretty goals. Slides started stopping dodgers dead in their tracks and the defenses tightened up in all situations. All in all, it was a great week on the field that got better with each session.
Off the field the players enjoyed cheering for the semi-final world cup games and learned how to string the new sticks many of them received. The first wiffle ball game also saw Coaches Colt Adams and Ryan Clark make spectacular diving catches that could have been featured on Baseball Tonight’s “Web Gems” segment.
Thank you all for a great first summer in Whittier and we look forward to seeing many of you soon at our day camps in Orange County.
