Women of Western Winners: Emerson Bohlig

Women of Western Winners: Emerson Bohlig

Fast. That is the word that comes to mind for Emerson Bohlig. She is lightning on the field, and since coming to Western Winners years ago it has been what every coach, teammate, and opponent notices first. Bohlig has a work ethic that has helped her technical skills catch up with her feet, and she heads to Northwestern next year an increasingly well-rounded player. The competitor in her is primed as she emerges from the San Francisco Bay Area and two seasons at Miramonte High School that were severely impacted by the pandemic. The Tenacity 2021 team member also had a disrupted final club season, which adds more fuel to the fire that she will bring to the Wildcats. This Western Winners Alumna goes full speed in everything she does, and we can’t wait to see what that means for her next, both on and off the field.

What is your favorite Western Winners Showcase memory?

My favorite Western Winners Showcase memory was getting to play with and compete against all my friends on the field. It was so fun to play all day and then hang out with everyone afterwards, because you got to know people you didn’t know as well before.

How did Western Winners impact your recruiting journey?

Through Western Winners I was able to get a lot of exposure to coaches whose camps I could not make or who I had not been able to play in frontΒ of previously. It allowed me to play in game situations in front of coaches which helped them to see what type of player I am in games.

What is your favorite lacrosse memory so far?

My favorite lacrosse experience is definitely becoming best friends with my teammates over the years. I have been playing with some of them since the third grade and they are some of my closest friends. One of my favorite memories is when I was a freshman and my team went to Presidents Cup in Florida for the first time. I remember how big that tournament was and our coaches took our entire team to Disney World after a day of games. The whole day was just so fun because there was so much team bonding.

Why did you choose Northwestern?

Northwestern has always been a school that I dreamed about going to. The campus is amazing with it being right on the lake and Chicago just down the road. Also the Northwestern academics helped bring me to the school. I really wanted to play for the coaching staff because their success has clearly been shown over the years. Also getting to play for such a legendary team with a history of winning national championships. The team was so nice and welcoming and getting to play with them is going to be so fun and exciting.

What are you looking forward to the most at Northwestern?

I am really looking forward to getting to play for such an amazing coaching staff and getting to play with such an insane team. I am also so excited to get to know new people and live in a new place that is very different from where I live now. I am really just looking forward to my overall experience at Northwestern with the team and the school.”

Well, we look forward to watching you compete Emerson!
