Back to the Future (Aces): Adam Sulanke

Trilogy’s Future Aces middle school camps & ICE program help players develop the tools they need to pursue their dreams of playing college lacrosse, offering them a roadmap to follow. Future Aces & ICE alum Adam Sulanke (Collegiate School & Team 91 Maryland) used all of those tools in his journey and last Fall announced his commitment to play Division 1 lacrosse for Army at West Point.

Sulanke is in his last year at the Collegiate School in Virginia and was named as an All-American defenseman in 2024 by USA Lacrosse. He also has been named to the Virginia All-Prep team multiple times and was 1st Team All-State as well as the All-State Player of the Year in 2024.

We checked in with Adam to see how his time at the Future Aces East and ICE Program helped him navigate his Division 1 recruiting journey:

What was your favorite memory from the Trilogy events you’ve attended?

Adam Sulanke: My favorite memory from the Trilogy events I attended was the incredible bond I built with kids I had never met before. These camps brought together players from all over the country, and because we all shared a passion for the same sport, forming friendships came naturally. Competing in games and working together on the field helped us forge strong relationships, and I’m proud to say that many of those connections have lasted to this day. The experience of meeting new people, growing as a team, and creating lasting memories is something I’ll always cherish.

How do you think the Trilogy events you attended helped prepare you as a lacrosse player?

AS: These camps gave me the opportunity to compete alongside some of the best players in the country while learning from some of the greatest athletes to ever play the game. The chance to hear and absorb different perspectives from seasoned veterans helped me develop a deeper understanding of the sport and pushed me to elevate my skills. I vividly remember receiving targeted feedback on how to address my weaknesses, which had a significant impact on my growth as a player. The experience was crucial in shaping me into a more well-rounded and confident athlete.

What is a piece of advice you would have for anyone going through the college recruiting process?

AS: My advice for anyone going through the college recruiting process is to stay patient and proactive. It’s important to remember that not everyone will receive a call or text on the first day coaches can reach out, and that’s okay. Recruiting is a marathon, not a sprint, and the key to achieving your dream of playing college lacrosse is to take initiative. Consistently update coaches with your latest game film and tournament schedules, and make an effort to stand out.

When reaching out to coaches, avoid sending generic emails. Instead, take the time to research the school and program, and tailor your message to show genuine interest. Highlight specific reasons why you’re excited about their program and how you would be a great fit for their team. A thoughtful and personalized approach will help you stand out and leave a heartfelt impression.

Why did you choose Army?

AS: I chose Army because of the special sense of brotherhood and the strong, values-driven culture of the school. Attending a service academy was never something I initially envisioned for myself, but the moment I stepped onto campus, I knew it was where I belonged. The bonds formed through shared struggles, failures, and successes are truly unique and help develop important real-life skills that go beyond the classroom or field.

Another key factor was the incredible coaching staff. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed and connected with the coaches, who made me feel like part of the family. Beyond the camaraderie and athletics, Army offers opportunities that no other school can match. After graduation, I’ll serve five years in the military, an experience that will not only allow me to give back but also provide me with skills, discipline, and benefits that will shape my future in countless ways.
