Over the last decade, Trilogy’s Future Aces overnight camps have helped hundreds of middle school athletes build the habits, acquire the skills and discover the motivation to play at the next level, with many continuing on to every level of NCAA competition. This Fall, Future Aces Tri-State alumni Mike Marino (Don Bosco Prep, BBL) announced his commitment to play for the University of Richmond, a perennial contender in the Atlantic 10 conference within Division 1.
Mike was a Future Aces Tri-State All-Star and continued to work hard over the years to earn recognition as an Inside Lacrosse 4-star recruit and the 81st ranked player in the entire 2026 class. He helped Don Bosco Prep win the Non-Public A state title in 2024 and was named to the 2024 NJ.com All-State Sophomore/Freshmen Second Team.
We checked in with Mike to see how his time at the Future Aces helped prepare him for the Division 1 path:
What was your favorite memory from the Future Aces?
Mike Marino: My favorite memory was getting to meet Coach Mitch Belisle and Coach Ryan Boyle. My brother (Mark Marino, current Princeton player) had a strong connection with them, and I heard great stories about their coaching.
How do you think Future Aces helped prepare you as a lacrosse player?
MM: The Future Aces camp allowed me to compete with some of the top kids in the area. I also developed my game with the help of lacrosse legends including Tom Schreiber who was a guest speaker at camp.
Why did you choose Richmond?
MM: I chose Richmond because of the academics, experienced coaching staff, and the ability to play D1 lacrosse at the highest level.
What is a piece of advice you would have for anyone going through the college recruiting process and/or choosing to play in college?
MM: Going through the recruiting process is going to be different for everyone, but make sure you make a decision based around the school because players and coaches come and go.
